“My Dad’s here tonight, so if anyone sees Papa Huber around buy the man a fuckin’ shot!” said Jason Huber, one half of the Nashville-based dance duo, Cherub during their Friday night Mercy Lounge performance.
Jason went on to explain that the duo’s latest album Mom & Dad is his father’s second favorite album, shadowed only by Shaggy’s 2002 chart-topper Hot Shot.
This was the general vibe of the night; a mesh of intimate, humorous, sexy and fun moments fueled by the group’s impressive stage presence (Jordan Kelley’s falsetto crooning is on point), body-moving catalog of music and the general sense of hometown camaraderie between the artists and fans present.
The final moments of the duo’s performance saw openers DWNTWN and Ghosthouse hopping on stage for climactic renditions of “Doses & Mimosas,” and covers of Calvin Harris’ “Feel So Close” and Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.”
