DOUG BENSON & GREG GIRALDO
On sunday afternoon there wasn’t much on the schedule that I was interested in. I decided to give the Comedy tent another go ‘blind date’ style with a bunch of comedian’s I wasn’t familiar with. Doug Benson’s stoner charm worked well with the general atmosphere of the free spirited festival. Greg Giraldo, who was next, was uncomfortably aggressive and jaded. I wasn’t able to stick around for Burnham but I can imagine the funny and jolting difference between Giraldo’s set and Burnham’s happy go lucky acoustic strumming session.

TIM & ERIC + CHECK IT OUT!

I follow these guys religiously. I’d never get a tattoo but If I did, it might say ‘Great Job!’ in cursive red letters. I’m convinced that the awesome show team is made up of geniuses. While waiting in line to get into the Cinema Tent, I became depressed when a stranger told me that this last season was their final season of Awesome Show. The Cinema Tent displayed some of Season Cinco’s better episodes with full clips of their new spinoff project, ‘Check It Out’ with Steve Brule’. If you see a funny commercial or bizarre music video in the near future, chances are Tim & Eric had something to do with it.

PHOENIX photo credit: Jeff Kravitz

When the band played the first notes of their opening song, ‘Lisztomania’ I turned to my friend and shouted over the noise, ‘This is the last show of Bonnaroo!’, he rolled his eyes and pointed to What Stage, ‘No…there’s still Dave Matthews Band’. I shook my head and said, ‘No! This is the last show of Bonnaroo!’ He smiled and nodded. A bit of a douchey thing to say but I had already seen Dave in concert and was ready to cap off the festival with some good ol’ French pop. Highlights of the show include their short but epic live version of ‘Funky Squaredance’ and also everyone jumping up and down screaming ‘Rome’ several times during ‘Rome’
